I love it when I can hike with family! This entire long weekend was built around us climbing to the top of Mount Lassen. We had tried to get passes to climb half dome this year, but were unsuccessful. But that didn't stop us from climbing a mountain! Here are some stats from the website:
Round Trip Distance: 5 miles
Round Trip Time: 3-5 hours
Terrain: steep 2000 foot elevation gain
Elevation: 8500 feet at trailhead, 10,457 feet at summit

I prepped for this one by doing my jog walks as often as I could. Plus, I adore my book that tells me where "Secret Staircases" are located in the East Bay Area. These routes are fun because I get to see more than just my own backyard and the work out is great as well.
