Windows
I love windows. I love what they represent metaphorically. A few standard cliches are "the eyes are a window to the soul" and "art is a window to man's soul." As Alan Alda said, "Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won't come in."
I have a favorite window. It is the large picture window from my childhood home. It faced the back yard and overlooked a valley. From this window I would gauge what to wear to school that day based on the amount of fog in the morning. From this window I would stay warm while I watched the sky turn from black to pink and purple then yellow and eventually light up my day.
I could see life below, which at that time meant looking over an ice plant covered hill, through a quiet residential neighborhood, across Calle Mayor into the Vons shopping center and behind it stood my alma mater, the South High School campus.
In the distance were the lights of the Torrance Airport. Every Christmas Eve of my believing childhood, my dad would take me and my sisters to this window and tell us the red lights we saw blinking in the sky were that of Rudolph and if we didn't get to sleep immediately, Santa would fly right over us. You never saw little girls take faster flight to our beds than we did on that night.
Hello World, It's Me is not the first website I have ever published, nor will it be my last. It exists to be a virtual window. Not art in the traditional sense, but my creation none the less. The best part of Hello World, Its Me is that not only can you catch a glimpse of me through these pages, I can continue to write what has been, what is and what I hope to become. Here are the links to all other sites that I have poured my soul into as well. They give you another window to look through at my world. Come take a peek.
