Okay, so I didn't want to wear my hiking boots on the beach. But I still consider this a hike worthy of a "Just Boots" post. Andrew and I had decided to walk this several months ago. We looked at possible dates and watched the tide charts. Finally, it was a go on May 26th. It is about a 2 hour drive to Sequim where the Dungeness Spit is located. The spit is a 5.5-mile long sand spit jutting out from the northern edge of the Olympic Peninsula into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. It is the longest natural sand spit in the United States. The best part is you get rewarded with a fabulous visit to the lighthouse at the tip. I had tried to reach the lighthouse once before with Mary Beers and my daughter Mandolin, but to no avail. So this time I was determined to reach the lighthouse. I am so glad I did. I adore lighthouses and the effort to get out to this one was made it all the better. |

Just Boots...I bought a new pair of hiking boots for myself and I wanted to chronicle all the fun places they would take me. But selfies just aren't my style. So I decided to take pictures that proved I was there, yet didn't have to actually be in the shot. That thought is what inspired this blog page I like to call JUST BOOTS... Archives
