Just Because No One is Reading, Is No Reason Not to Write
When I first thought about writing Hello World, It's Me it was December 1974. I was ten years old and knew it would be a best selling novel because my own life was going to be filled with adventure, romance and the stuff that makes one great. My sister Melissa bought me a journal as a Christmas gift that year, the cover of which is the picture above. I jumped right in to chronicle my life. This is what you will find on page four.
My Favorite Things
I like...the color orange
the fruit plum
my dog Shasta
cute earrings
camping with the family
my best friend Kathy
my family
the church
my many friends
to be liked by boys
to go swimming

Not much has changed in the past 40 years.
How could I have ever known back in '74 that my book would take the form of a blog instead. Now that I will be turning 50 in 2014, I figured it was time to start in earnest. And as far as it being a best seller, I have concluded that just because no one might ever read it, that should not be a reason to not write it.
Thank you Melissa for a gift that has kept on giving!
